Why is a Yorkie like an Ab Roller?

My friday night plans are to put Gemma to bed, pop some popcorn, snuggle up with my boys (Jeremy & Rockstar) and watch Alice in Wonderland for the second time. I have been looking forward to it all day! I realize a few of the words in the Mad Hatter's riddle above are slightly off. That's because of a little story I have to tell you. When I heard it myself I laughed so hard I cried a little....

Rockstar the yorkie lives a charmed life. He sleeps in the bed with Jer and I every night. (Don't judge me). Well a few times each night Rockstar is struck with a terrible thirst that drives him out of bed and over to his dish. When he returns he whines for help getting back into bed. (Apparently darkness renders him unable to jump up on his own the way he does throughout the day). He knows that darkness also renders me grumpy and unwilling to assist small animals into my bed so he goes directly to Jeremy's side. This has become routine over the years and Jeremy doesn't even have to fully wake up when lending that rascal a hand. That reality became apparent this morning when Jeremy, while rolling over, elbowed what he thought was Rockstar. He opened his eyes to apologize and make sure Rockstar was uninjured when he saw it. The Ab Roller. That's right, it was in bed with us. As Jeremy put it back in its proper place (as proper as it is to keep an Ab Roller next to your bed) he saw Rockstar glaring back at him from his (rarely used but much more appropriate) doggy bed on the floor. I wonder what went through Rockstar's head in the middle of the night when he watched Jeremy ignore his whining plea and instead pluck the Ab Roller from the ground and place it in our bed.

On a lighter note-

Have you ever seen anything so cute in your whole life?

Rockstar HATES the rain. Poor little guy had to be born to an Oregonian breeder. I thought maybe this coat would make him more reasonable during winter walks. Turns out I just found something else he hates... doggie apparel. He wouldn't move an inch while wearing it. No amount of coaxing would make him walk. I think he felt humiliated- maybe he knew I found it in the dollar bin at Target. The little snob.

I'm not jealous, really

It's just Rockstar and I this weekend while Jer is in Bend for the Deschutes Dash sprint triathlon. I decided to stay behind this year so I wouldn't miss another week of church. (Now that I'm young women's president (youth group leader) I feel guilty being gone.)I just got off the phone with him and apparently he just finished floating the river. That might be one of my favorite things to do on God's green earth. That's okay though, I mean, so what if he is floating the Deschutes and beating his tri time from last year and I'm not. So what. I am cleaning out my desk, paying bills and catching up on work. Oh, and watching Rockstar soak up all the rays I'm missing out on. But I'm not jealous.

Red, White, and Blue Skies

Okay, here are the pictures of our holiday weekend. We had an amazing time in Bend as we always do. Swimming, biking, rafting, running and just being in nature. Now trying to figure how we can live there and do fun things like this all the time...
Here's a little piece of the big, big skies in Central OR

My Orange toes

My darling husband, our dog and some fireworks

The McCaslines
While riding our bikes we stopped at the stables to make a new friend

The view from our raft

Me and the Mr.

"Is that Tarzan?" you may be wondering... Actually it's Jer on the rope swing we discovered. He was just about to drop into the freezing cold water and invite us all to do the same. So fun, we've already made plans to go back next month.

It's Not Easy Being Green

Anyone who's been within earshot of me recently knows I'm sick of the grey days here in Portland. Yes I'm ready for summer but when you see the beauty-ful green surroundings that our liquid sunshine provides, it becomes almost worth it. Jeremy, Rockstar and I spent Memorial Day (yes it's been a while since I've posted and I've probably lost the two people who read my blog anyway) in the Columbia River Gorge. We went to Hood River and took our time driving home looking at scenes like this one:
SO BEAUTIFUL! Jer was a gem of a husband and stopped along the way whenever I wanted to use my TtV camera contraption. I took lots of photos like the ones above and had a great time doing it. One of the cutest moments of the day was when Rockstar learned to jump from one railroad tie to the next to avoid the gravel in between. (Don't say a word, I've already come to terms with the fact that I'm an abnoxiously proud doggy-mama)

***Update*** Since posting this I have learned that the word is much less abnoxious, much more obnoxious... at least if you're speaking English which, it seems, I only occasionally do.

Party Like a Rockstar

Look who just got their summer hairdo. Rockstar is ready to cruise for chicks with his head out the window and his tongue wagging in the wind. Watch out *ladies*!
ps- I know I suck at blogging but I promise to try harder.

Walking The Dog

Just a few snaps I took on my walk with Rockstar yesterday. We Portlanders are thrilled to have bits of sunshine and warmer temperatures coming around. I'm not so excited about the pictures I've been taking though. Feeling a little un-inspired. They need some life injected in them... human life. The weather isn't reliable enough yet to start booking portrait sittings but I'm counting down the days. Will you let me take your picture?
